Bocce Ball

The object of the game is to score the most points by. ending each round with your color balls, closest to the jack (white point ball).

Teams

  • 1 player per team = 4 balls per player

  • 2 players per team= 2 balls per player

  • 4 players per team = 1 ball per player

Prep

  1. Set up a foul line which players are not allowed to cross when they throw the bocce ball.

  2. Flip a coin (or another suitable method) to determine which team will start

Pallino Ball

  1. The starting team will throw the pallino into the playing area.  The pallino must be thrown past the center line, but not more than 4 feet further than the 4-foot line.

  2. If the pallino lands outside of the designated area, the opposing team will throw the pallino into the playing area.

Bocce Ball

  1. Taking alternate turns, each team throws their bocce balls towards the pallino to: (A) get their bocce ball closest to the pallino, (B) to move the pallino closer to their bocce ball, or (C) move the opponents bocce ball.

  2. The winning team begins the next frame.

  3. Frames are played alternatively from one end of the court to the other

Scoring

  1. In each frame, only one team scores

  2. 1 point is given for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino than the opposing teams bocce balls.

  3. The pallino distance marker can be used to determine which balls are closer.  

  4. The game continues until 12 points have been scored (or up to 21)
